New Delhi, Dec 06 (V7N) — Russian President Vladimir Putin has assured that Moscow is fully prepared to continue providing uninterrupted energy supplies to India despite mounting pressure from the United States.

Standing alongside Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to New Delhi, Putin strongly criticized the US stance, questioning why restrictions were being imposed on India while Washington itself continues to purchase nuclear fuel from Moscow.

During the joint briefing, the Russian president announced the launch of a major flagship initiative — the construction of India’s largest nuclear power plant at Kudankulam. He said that two of the six reactor units have already been connected to the national energy grid. Once fully operational, the plant is expected to play a pivotal role in meeting India’s rapidly growing energy demands.

Putin concluded his two-day diplomatic visit and departed for Moscow on Friday.

Meanwhile, relations between Washington and New Delhi remain strained after US President Donald Trump imposed a 50 percent tariff on most Indian goods. The US has accused India of purchasing Russian oil and indirectly supporting Moscow’s war effort in Ukraine — allegations that India has firmly denied.
