Washington, Nov 27 (V7N) — South Africa will not be invited to the 2026 G-20 summit in Florida, US President Donald Trump announced on his social media platform Truth Social on Wednesday.
Trump stated that the decision was made to protest the oppression of the white minority in South Africa.
The United States did not participate in this year’s G-20 summit, citing that South Africa’s priorities, including trade cooperation and climate policies, were not aligned with US interests. In response, South Africa, as the host of this year’s summit, refused to hand over the G-20 presidency to a US embassy representative at the conclusion of the climate summit, breaking with tradition.
Considering these developments, the US, which will host the 2026 summit in Florida, decided to exclude South Africa from participating in next year’s meeting.
