Washington, Oct 14 (V7N) — US President Donald Trump has warned that Hamas will be forced to disarm, and that violent measures could be used if necessary, following the recent ceasefire in Gaza.

“If Hamas does not put down its weapons, we will disarm them; if necessary, violently,” Trump said. His previous statements have indicated that Hamas might be allowed a limited role in Gaza, but under strict oversight.

Hamas leaders have reportedly held a direct meeting with US White House envoys, marking the highest-level engagement between the two sides to date.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Hamas released a video showing eight blindfolded, handcuffed men being executed, claiming they were collaborators with Israel. AFP reported that after the ceasefire, Hamas launched an operation against Palestinian criminal gangs and tribal groups in Gaza.

In this context, Trump reiterated that the US will not hand over control of Gaza to Hamas, emphasizing the need for the organization to fully disarm.
