New York, Aug 18 (V7N) – A mass shooting early Sunday at the Taste of the City Lounge in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, left three men dead and nine others wounded, NYPD officials confirmed.

The shooting took place just before 3:30 a.m. at the lounge located at 903 Franklin Avenue. Multiple 911 calls prompted a swift police response, where officers discovered eleven gunshot victims—comprising nine men and three women—ranging in age from 19 to 61.

Among the deceased were a 19-year-old man who died at the scene and two others, aged 27 and 35, who succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The injured were transported to nearby hospitals with what officials described as non-life-threatening wounds.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch stated that investigators believe up to four gunmen were involved, in what appears to be a gang-related incident stemming from a dispute inside the crowded lounge. Law enforcement recovered between 36 and 42 shell casings from 9 mm and .45-caliber weapons inside the venue and found a firearm nearby on Bedford Avenue and Eastern Parkway; its connection to the shooting remains under investigation.

Mayor Eric Adams called the shooting “an anomaly” in what has otherwise been a record-low year for gun violence in New York City. Authorities have activated crisis response teams and urged those with information to contact NYPD’s Crime Stoppers.

This is the second mass shooting in the city within recent weeks, raising renewed concern over public safety even as overall violence trends remain low.
