Tehran, June 16 (V7N) — Iran has executed a man identified as Ismail Fikri on charges of espionage for the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, Qatar-based media outlet Al Jazeera confirmed on Monday.

Citing Mizan Online, a news agency affiliated with Iran’s judiciary, Al Jazeera reported that the execution took place following a death sentence handed down by Iran’s Supreme Court. Fikri was accused of providing classified and sensitive information to Iran’s "enemies."

According to Mizan Online, Ismail Fikri was in contact with two Mossad officers during his alleged espionage activities. Iranian authorities arrested him in December 2023 and subsequently filed formal charges.

The judiciary described the execution as a "major intelligence blow" to Israel’s spy network, highlighting Iran’s ongoing crackdown on what it terms hostile intelligence operations within its borders.

No response from Israeli authorities has been reported so far regarding the execution.
