Chandpur, Aug 9 (V7N) – Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain has ordered the immediate transfer of Chandpur Civil Surgeon Dr Nure Alam Din over allegations of negligence in performing his duties.

The minister issued the order during a surprise visit to Haimchar Upazila Health Complex, where he expressed dissatisfaction after witnessing mismanagement at the hospital. Later, he visited Chandpur Government General Hospital and spoke to local journalists.

The minister said a comprehensive campaign would be launched at the end of September to reduce the birth rate, as the government is working to ensure the well-being and good health of the people. "We will ensure the people's good health as per our commitment. We have already started doing whatever is necessary for this. Various family planning supplies will be made easily available to people through the campaign," he said.

Sakhawat said various types of equipment in the health sector had been left unused and allowed to deteriorate during the previous government's tenure, and mismanagement had developed in different hospitals.

Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik MP, Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Ziaur Rahman, hospital Superintendent Dr Mahbubur Rahman, and officials and physicians of the Sadar Hospital were present during the visit. At Haimchar Upazila Health Complex, MP Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik, District Parishad Administrator Advocate Salim Ullah Selim, UNO Amit Ray, and Upazila Health Officer Dr Mahmudunnabi Masum were also present.
