Tangail, July 15 (V7N) – Afirdi Ahmed Jisan, the only child of Mosharraf Hossain and Jesmin Akhter from Mohela village in Kalihati upazila, is facing a life-threatening congenital heart defect. Though only recently diagnosed at the age of six, doctors have confirmed the condition was present since birth. His treatment will require open-heart surgery costing nearly Tk 9 lakh — a sum far beyond the reach of his low-income family.
Jisan’s father, a garment factory worker in Gazipur’s Konabari area, supports his family on a modest wage. Already burdened by household expenses and parental support, he now faces an impossible challenge: saving his son’s life with money he doesn’t have.
Jisan’s mother, Jesmin Akhter, shared the family's distress: “We are poor and struggling. While other mothers worry about their children's schooling, I worry about my son's survival. The doctor told us the surgery would cost around Tk 9 lakh. I can't sleep at night thinking about it.”
The family has already spent over Tk 1 lakh on tests and medications, mostly through borrowed funds. As Jisan continues to suffer from frequent colds, chest swelling, and difficulty breathing, the urgency of medical intervention grows.
Local residents and well-wishers are rallying in support. One relative noted, “This child is all they have. If help doesn’t come soon, they may lose him.”
Tangail District Social Services Officer Md. Touhidul Islam confirmed, “If the family provides valid medical documentation, we can offer up to Tk 50,000 in assistance.”
Those willing to help may send financial support directly to:

The family is pleading with the government, social organizations, and kind-hearted individuals to help give Jisan a second chance at life.
