SANGSAD BHABAN, June 24,  (V7N) — The government has undertaken several effective measures to improve customer services by addressing weak mobile network coverage, call drops, slow internet speeds, and outdated telecommunications infrastructure, Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam told Parliament today.

He made the disclosure while replying to a written question from opposition lawmaker Syed Zainul Abedin of Dhaka-4 in the Jatiya Sangsad.

The minister said guidelines on the Quality of Service (QoS) Benchmarking System have been issued to improve mobile operators’ service quality and protect consumer interests. “Activities to update and implement the system are currently underway,” he added.

As part of the initiative, drive tests covering roughly 2,000 kilometres nationwide have already been completed in 2026 under new directives. “The tests are being conducted to assess network coverage and service quality of mobile operators,” he said.

Faqir Mahbub Anam said Quality of Service drive tests will also be carried out in Dhaka district, like other parts of the country, to further improve telecommunications services.

He added that test results will be analyzed to identify weak network areas, and concerned mobile operators will be instructed to take necessary improvement measures.

The minister said the government will continue efforts to build a modern, uninterrupted, and customer-friendly mobile network system across the country.
