Dhaka, Oct 6 (V7N) – Bangladesh Women's team endured a 72-run defeat to Queensland Fire in their only warm-up match in Brisbane today ahead of their three-match ODI series against Australia.

The match was reduced to 36 overs following a rain interruption, and Queensland posted 266-9 after being sent to bat first. Bangladesh were set a revised target of 269 runs but were able to put on 196-7 in 36 overs.

Charli Knott smashed 94 off 64 balls, while Grace Harris scored 76 from 50 deliveries to power Queensland to an imposing total. Opener Lauren Winfield-Hill added 48 off 37 balls. Bangladesh's Habiba Islam Pinki was the standout bowler, claiming 4-44 in seven overs. Marufa Akhter was a bit expensive as she snapped up 2-64, while Nahida Akter and Ritu Moni picked up one wicket each.

Bangladesh lost wickets at regular intervals during the chase despite a fighting 68 off 67 balls from Sharmin Akhter Supta. Sobhana Mostary scored 49 from 54 balls and Sharmin Sultana contributed 28 off 40. Captain Nigar Sultana Jyoti was dismissed for a duck after facing three deliveries.

Nicola Hancock led Queensland's bowling attack with 3-51 from seven overs. Lily Bassingthwaighte, Filippa Suesee and Harris took one wicket each.

The warm-up was Bangladesh's only practice match before their ODI series against Australia, which begins in Brisbane on October 9.
