DHAKA, June 6, (V7N) – Bangladesh fast bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib has revealed that he is recovering from a hip bone fracture and is expected to remain out of action for several weeks.

In a statement posted on social media today, the 24-year-old pacer said he decided to clarify his condition amid conflicting reports regarding his injury.

“A few days ago, I was diagnosed with a fracture of my hip bone,” Tanzim said.

He explained that the medical team of the Bangladesh Cricket Board consulted a surgeon in New Zealand as well as the New Zealand cricket team’s physiotherapist before deciding against immediate surgery.

“Our BCB medical team, after talking to the New Zealand surgeon and their cricket team physio, agreed to go for natural healing,” he stated.

According to Tanzim, doctors will reassess the injury after six to seven weeks through another MRI scan to determine whether the bone has healed adequately.

“Normally it takes 6-7 weeks to get another MRI to see if the bone has become hard or not,” he said.

The fast bowler is currently observing a complete rest period and said rehabilitation and bowling activities will begin gradually only after medical evaluations confirm sufficient recovery.

“I am currently in a resting period. If the bone becomes hard, my rehab and bowling will start gradually,” he added.

Describing the recovery as a lengthy process, Tanzim sought prayers from fans and well-wishers for a successful return to cricket.

The injury comes as a significant setback for Bangladesh ahead of a busy international schedule, with Tanzim having emerged as an important member of the national team's pace attack across formats in recent years.
