Dhaka, Mar 13 (V7N) — Bangladesh star pacer Mustafizur Rahman, who has excelled in multiple franchise leagues worldwide, is set to make his debut in England’s 100-ball tournament The Hundred.

The left-arm fast bowler has been signed by Birmingham Phoenix for £100,000 (approximately Tk 1.64 crore), according to the final phase of the auction held in London on Thursday (March 12). With no other team showing interest, the 30-year-old pacer was easily added to the squad.

Birmingham Phoenix’s squad will see Mustafiz joining players such as Jacob Bethell, Donovan Ferreira, Usman Tariq, and Rehan Ahmed.

Although fellow Bangladeshi Rishad Hossain was on the final auction list, no franchise showed interest in signing him. Notably, Rishad previously played alongside Rehan Ahmed for Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League.

The fifth season of The Hundred is scheduled to start on July 21. Mustafizur had earlier been signed for a record price in the Indian Premier League (IPL), but Kolkata Knight Riders released him due to security concerns.
