NEW YORK, Feb 14 (V7N) – Olympic 100m gold medalist Noah Lyles and Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill will finally settle their speed debate in a head-to-head race, the eight-time Pro Bowler confirmed on social media.
Hill, known as one of the fastest players in the NFL, challenged Lyles to a 50-yard race shortly after the American sprinter won the 100m gold at the Paris Olympics in what was dubbed the most competitive final in Olympic history.
Lyles, never one to back down from a challenge, responded earlier this month after securing his fourth straight 60m indoor title at the New Balance Grand Prix. He ripped off his bib to reveal a handwritten message:
"Tyreek Could Never."
That public callout reignited the feud, and Hill took to social media to confirm the race is on.
"Coming to a city near you," Hill wrote, linking to a People Magazine article that announced the event.
While the race is confirmed, key details remain undecided, including the location, date, and distance.
Hill initially proposed a 40-yard dash, his specialty as an NFL player, while Lyles suggested a full 100m sprint, calling it a "blowout" in his favor.
"We gotta meet in the middle," Lyles admitted, hinting at a possible compromise between the 40-yard and 100m distances.
The showdown is expected to happen before the U.S. Championships in July, adding even more hype to what could be one of the most talked-about races outside of the Olympics.
Who wins—track speed or football speed? Fans will soon find out.
