New Delhi, Oct 17 (V7N)- Abhijit Deepke has reportedly been shown as arrested under preventive provisions after being detained in connection with a flag-hoisting programme organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), according to Indian media reports.

He is expected to be produced before a special executive magistrate, the reports said.

The CJP has alleged that police took Deepke to an undisclosed location and prevented him from contacting others. The party has raised concerns over his whereabouts and access to communication following his detention.

Meanwhile, Neha Bora, national president of the All India Students Association, has been released, according to the reports.

The incident followed a call by the CJP for a national flag-hoisting programme at Central Park in Connaught Place, New Delhi, on Friday, October 16. Delhi Police reportedly conducted a major operation ahead of the event, and Deepke was detained after leaving his residence to attend the programme.

The CJP had organised the event to protest against the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the arrests of Ashutosh Ranka and Saurabh Das, according to the supplied information.

Further details about the legal grounds for Deepke’s detention and the circumstances surrounding his reported arrest were not immediately available.
