Washington, May 14 (V7N) — US Vice President JD Vance said progress is being made in ongoing negotiations with Iran despite President Donald Trump rejecting Tehran’s latest proposal as “unacceptable.”
Speaking to reporters at the White House on Wednesday, Vance said discussions between Washington and Tehran were moving forward, although key challenges remain.
“I think we are making progress. But the main question is, are we making enough progress within the limits that the president has set?” Vance said.
He emphasized that President Trump’s position remains unchanged, stating that Iran must never be allowed to develop nuclear weapons.
During the press briefing, Vance noted that both sides had made some progress in efforts aimed at easing tensions and advancing peace talks.
However, he reiterated that both he and President Trump share the same core stance that Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons.
