Aug 02 (v7n) - The Election Commission (EC) has constituted a four-member committee to streamline the application process for corrections to National Identity Cards (NID).
According to an official letter signed by Habiba Akhter, Assistant Director of the EC's National Identity Registration Wing, the committee has been formed to review documents submitted with correction applications and simplify the overall procedure.
The committee, headed by the Director (Registration and Expatriates) of the wing, has been tasked with classifying types of requested changes, preparing a list of required supporting documents, and making recommendations on applications previously rejected under Category 'D' due to insufficient evidence—including guidance on re-submissions with adequate documentation.
The panel will also recommend measures for faster disposal of applications, suggest necessary updates to the CMS portal to resolve complexities in electronic processing, and provide justifications for NID lock-unlock and rollback procedures.
