Canberra, Dec 17 (V7N) — Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has announced a firm commitment to completely eradicate anti-Semitism from Australian society, stating that the government is considering appointing a special envoy to combat anti-Semitism.
Speaking in the wake of recent violent incidents, Prime Minister Albanese said the country must draw lessons from such attacks and take stronger action if necessary. “We must learn from the attack. We must take stricter measures. We will change the law if required,” he said.
Emphasizing zero tolerance, Albanese stated, “We want to completely suppress and eliminate anti-Semitism from society. There is no place in this country for anyone supported by ISIS.”
Officials noted that several countries, including the United States, have long appointed special envoys to address anti-Semitism, and Australia is now moving in the same direction as part of broader efforts to counter hate-based violence and extremism.
The announcement signals a tougher stance by the Australian government on hate crimes and extremist ideology, amid growing concerns over public safety and social cohesion.
