Kathmandu, Sep 09 (V7N) – Anti-government protests in Nepal have escalated into violence, forcing the cancellation of all flights across the country for security reasons. The unrest, initially organized by Gen Z youth, has grown into a nationwide movement against the government.
On Tuesday, protesters returned to the streets of Kathmandu for the second consecutive day, with numbers increasing as the day progressed. Crowds gathered outside the Parliament building, and armed police fired tear gas to disperse demonstrators.
Violence erupted near government offices, with the Survey Department building set on fire, filling the area with smoke. Amid the turmoil, three ministers, including Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, have resigned. Home Minister Ramesh Lakhkar stepped down on Monday, followed by Agriculture and Livestock Minister Ram Nath Adhikari and Water Supply Minister Pradeep Yadav.
Authorities have expressed regret over the disruption of flights and continue to monitor the volatile situation across the capital.
