Washington, July 03 (V7N) — The US Department of Defense has claimed that its recent military strikes have delayed Iran’s nuclear program by one to two years. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell made the remarks during a regular press briefing on Wednesday (July 2).

The news was confirmed in a report by Reuters on Thursday (July 3).

Parnell stated that the US airstrikes targeting Iran’s key nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan have significantly impacted the country's nuclear development efforts. “The operation achieved its objective,” he said, while acknowledging that no direct evidence could yet be presented to verify the scale of damage. He added that US intelligence is closely monitoring the situation to assess the full impact of the strikes.

The attacks were carried out on June 22, when US B-2 bombers dropped more than a dozen 30,000-pound bunker-buster bombs, alongside the launch of over two dozen Tomahawk cruise missiles, targeting Iran’s underground nuclear sites.

The strike marks one of the most significant US military actions against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure to date, amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
