May 17, (V7N) - Iran's President, Masoud Pezeshkian, has declared that while Iran will continue negotiations with the United States regarding its rapidly advancing nuclear program, it will not relinquish its perceived rights due to U.S. threats.
"We are negotiating, and we will negotiate, we are not after war but we do not fear any threat," Pezeshkian stated during a televised address to navy officials on Saturday, as reported by AP.
"It is not like that they think if they threaten us, we will give up our human right and definite right," Pezeshkian asserted. "We will not withdraw, we will not easily lose honorable military, scientific, nuclear in all fields."
The ongoing negotiations have reportedly progressed to the "expert" level, indicating that both sides are attempting to finalize the specifics of a potential agreement. However, a significant point of contention remains Iran's uranium enrichment activities, which Tehran insists are essential and which the U.S. administration, under President Trump, is demanding that Iran cease.President Trump has repeatedly threatened military airstrikes against Iran's nuclear program if a deal is not reached.
In response, Iranian officials have increasingly warned that they could pursue nuclear weapons, given their stockpile of uranium enriched to near weapons-grade levels.Following President Trump's statements on Friday, indicating that Iran had received a proposal during the talks, Mohammad Eslami, the head of Iran’s atomic organization, emphasized the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program. He stated that the program is under "continuous" monitoring by the UN nuclear watchdog, as reported by state TV on Saturday.
“No country is monitored by the agency like us,” Eslami said, adding that the agency inspected the country’s nuclear facilities more than 450 time in 2024. “Something about 25 per cent of all the agency inspections” in the year.
