DHAKA,  May 17 (V7N) – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is recovering well following his recent eye surgery at a hospital in Bangkok.

"My father is fine now...It will take several more days for his complete recovery," his daughter, Dr. Shamaruh Mirza, confirmed to BSS via telephone today.

She stated that, as advised by his physicians, Fakhrul is currently resting.

Regarding his return to Bangladesh, she said, "Whenever his physicians consider him risk-free, we will decide on his return to Bangladesh. I and my mother (Rahat Ara Begum) are by my father's side all the time.”

Dr. Shamaruh Mirza, who resides in Australia with her spouse, requested that the people of Bangladesh pray for her father's swift recovery.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir underwent successful surgery on his left eye at Bangkok's Rutnin Eye Hospital on May 14th.

Meanwhile, BNP Standing Committee Member Prof. Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain stated that BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman are continuously monitoring the BNP Secretary General's medical condition.
