New Delhi, May 13 (V7N) – Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Adampur Air Base in Punjab on Tuesday, just days after a ceasefire agreement was reached between India and Pakistan. The base had been targeted during Pakistani airstrikes on the night of May 9–10, prompting heightened concerns over regional stability.
Modi’s visit aimed to boost troop morale and assess the damage sustained during the strike. He held direct discussions with the personnel stationed at the base, emphasizing the importance of maintaining calm and preparedness along the border in the wake of the ceasefire.
The Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude to the armed forces for the success of “Operation Sindoor”, a recent military operation whose details have not yet been fully disclosed but are believed to be related to recent border tensions.
In a parallel development, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh announced the deployment of additional Rafale fighter jets at Adampur to enhance India’s air capabilities in the region. He also revealed plans to install an indigenous laser-based defense system at strategic locations to counter Pakistani hypersonic missile threats.
The visit and subsequent announcements come at a critical time, as both nations navigate a fragile ceasefire amid heightened military and diplomatic sensitivities.
