Washington, May 04 (V7N) – The United States military will stage a major military parade on June 14 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding, which coincides with former President Donald Trump's 79th birthday, according to a report by AFP.

The “daylong celebration” is set to take place on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., featuring 6,600 troops, 150 military vehicles, and 50 aircraft, an army spokesperson confirmed.

Trump originally proposed such a military parade during his presidency, inspired by France’s Bastille Day celebrations following a visit to Paris. However, the 2018 plan was abandoned due to projected costs reaching $90 million, which drew criticism from local officials.

Now revived, the upcoming event is expected to be on a grander scale, with extensive military displays, advanced equipment, and heightened public engagement. The U.S. Army confirmed that planning for the event is “actively underway.”

In a related development, Trump announced on Friday that Veterans Day, traditionally observed on November 11 and known as Remembrance Day in the UK, would be renamed “Victory Day” to honor America’s role in World War I.
