Nagoya, Japan, Sept 25 (V7N) – Bangladesh earned their first point in women's hockey at the Asian Games after battling Kazakhstan to a 3-3 draw in their Pool A match here on Friday.
Bangladesh took an early lead through Irin, who converted a penalty corner in the second minute, and held the advantage through the opening quarter. Kazakhstan levelled in the second quarter before scoring twice in the third to take a 3-1 lead.
Bangladesh fought back as Kona Akter pulled one goal back before Arpita Paul converted a penalty corner in the 47th minute to secure a point for the Bangladesh side.
Bangladesh earlier lost to China, South Korea and Malaysia in their first three matches. They remain at the bottom of Pool A with one point from four matches and will face Chinese Taipei in their final game.
The Bangladesh women's hockey team is competing in the Asian Games for the first time, having qualified through their performance at the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy.
