Rio de Janeiro, Jun 01 (V7N) – Five-time world champions Brazil kicked off their preparations for the FIFA World Cup with a commanding 6-2 victory over Panama in an international friendly at the iconic Maracana Stadium on Monday.

In front of a packed crowd, Carlo Ancelotti's side delivered an attacking masterclass, with the Brazilian coach's bold decision to replace all 10 outfield players at halftime proving decisive as the Seleção overwhelmed their Central American opponents.

Brazil made a dream start to the match when Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior opened the scoring in the second minute with a stunning long-range strike from nearly 35 yards, sending the home supporters into celebration.

Panama responded in the 14th minute after a defensive mix-up resulted in an own goal by Queiroz, leveling the score at 1-1. However, Brazil regained control before the break. In the 39th minute, Vinicius delivered a pinpoint cross that was met by Casemiro's trademark powerful header to restore the hosts' lead.

The second half belonged entirely to Brazil.

Ancelotti introduced all 10 available outfield substitutes after halftime, and the fresh legs transformed the match into a goal fest. Youngster Hayan extended the lead in the 53rd minute before Lucas Paqueta added another in the 60th minute. Just three minutes later, Thiago converted from the penalty spot to make it 5-1.

Brazil continued to press for more goals, and Danilo Santos joined the scoresheet in the 81st minute after finishing a well-worked move created by Paqueta.

Panama managed a late consolation goal through Carlos Harvey in the 84th minute with a powerful long-range effort, but it did little to spoil Brazil's dominant evening.

The final whistle confirmed a convincing 6-2 victory for the Seleção, sending a strong message to their future World Cup opponents.

Brazil will continue their preparations with another friendly against Egypt next Sunday before opening their World Cup campaign against Morocco on June 14.
