London, Aug 22 (V7N) – With 10 days remaining in the summer transfer window, English Premier League clubs have already set a new record, spending £2.37 billion—surpassing last year’s record of £2.36 billion.
The latest notable transfer was Swiss striker Noah Okafor moving from AC Milan to Leeds United for £18 million. While the transfer may seem ordinary, it contributes to a historic total in the Premier League’s transfer dealings this summer.
Following Liverpool’s dominance last season, clubs have aggressively strengthened their squads, particularly in attacking and midfield positions. Arsenal, for instance, successfully signed Eberechi AJ from Crystal Palace, outmaneuvering local rivals Tottenham.
Last year, Chelsea’s record move saw World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez join for £107 million, helping EPL clubs collectively spend £2.36 billion—up from £1.92 billion the previous season.
Smaller clubs are also making bold moves. Newly promoted sides Burnley and Sunderland have spent £25 million and £26 million respectively on Ugochukwu and Diarra, showing the widening spending race across the league.
With a week and a half left, the Premier League transfer market is set to see more high-profile signings, and the final total could set an even higher benchmark.
