Mongla, August 5 (V7N) – On the anniversary of the historic student-public uprising, BNP leaders and activists in Mongla held a large-scale victory rally and public gathering. Organized jointly by the Mongla municipal and upazila units of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), the rally began at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday from the Sramik Sangha premises.

The rally paraded through key streets of the town and returned to its starting point, where a victory meeting was held. Thousands of BNP leaders, activists, and supporters participated in the event.

Speakers at the gathering included Mozzafor Rahman Alam, member secretary of Bagerhat District BNP, joint convener Dr. Sheikh Faridul Islam, president of Mongla Municipal BNP Md. Zulfikar Ali, general secretary Mahbubur Rahman Manik, Mongla Upazila BNP president Abdul Mannan Hawlader, and general secretary Abu Hossain Poni.

In their speeches, BNP leaders recalled the sacrifices made by many of their party members during the July-August uprising. They emphasized that the victory belongs to all who struggled for democratic rights. The speakers urged activists to remain united under the guidance of party leader Tarique Rahman and work toward the realization of his 31-point reform agenda.

The event was part of broader nationwide observances of the uprising’s anniversary, as BNP seeks to rally support for its political demands and highlight its historical role in pro-democracy movements.
