Rangamati, July 16 (V7N) — Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) central executive committee’s assistant organizing secretary, Barrister Mir Helal, described party leader Tarique Rahman as the “rising sun of Bangladesh,” stating that his light is illuminating the entire nation. “No one but Allah can dim his light,” he declared while addressing a public gathering in Rangamati on Wednesday.
Mir Helal also projected a major victory for BNP in the upcoming national elections, claiming the party will win at least 270 seats. However, he stressed that success depends on understanding and adhering to the principles of the party’s founder, the late President Ziaur Rahman, and following the strategic guidelines of Tarique Rahman.
Speaking as the chief guest at the launch of BNP’s fresh member recruitment and renewal campaign in the hill district of Rangamati — part of a national program — Mir Helal urged party activists to uphold public trust. He cautioned, “None of our leaders or activists should act in a way that causes public dissatisfaction, hardship, or discomfort.”
Earlier in the day, at around 11:30 AM, Mir Helal arrived in Rangamati, where he was welcomed by local leaders and supporters with floral greetings. A rally began from Banarupa and marched to the party office, where the event was held.
During the formal segment of the ceremony, Mir Helal handed over new membership forms to five individuals, officially inaugurating the district-level campaign.
Other prominent figures present included BNP national executive committee’s assistant secretary for religious affairs Advocate Dipen Dewan, former deputy minister Moniswapan Dewan, former central JCD vice-president and membership campaign team lead Ferdous Ahmed Munna, former JCD leader and team member Md. Ibrahim, central assistant secretary of Swechchhasebak Dal Morshed Alam, and former JCD leader Meraz Azim.
The program was chaired by Rangamati BNP district president Dipen Talukder Dipu and moderated by district general secretary Advocate Mamunur Rashid Mamun.
The event marks a significant organizational push in the Chittagong Hill Tracts region, signaling BNP’s renewed focus on grassroots mobilization ahead of the next national election.
