CHUADANGA, April 19, (V7N) — More than 100,000 children in Chuadanga district will be vaccinated against measles and rubella (MR) under a special immunisation campaign beginning tomorrow, officials announced at a press briefing Monday.
Target group: 100,305 children aged six months to under five years
Duration: April 21 – May 10, daily from 8 am to 5 pm
Centres: 980 outreach vaccination centres and 8 permanent centres
Personnel: 341 government and NGO staff supported by 1,998 volunteers
Training of trainers has been completed at the district level, while advocacy meetings and awareness drives are underway. Public announcements are being used to encourage parents to bring children for vaccination.
Current situation
Civil Surgeon Dr. Hadi Ziauddin Ahmed said that since March 15, 42 children have been admitted to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital with measles infection. Of them, 36 have recovered, while six remain under treatment. “We aim to ensure all targeted children receive the vaccine. This will protect them from these contagious diseases,” he said.

WHO Medical Officer Dr. Khandakar Imran Hafiz, Chuadanga Press Club President Nazmul Haque Swapan, General Secretary Shah Alam Sani, and District Press Club President Advocate Manik Akbar also spoke at the briefing, urging cooperation to achieve full coverage.
