Ashulia, Oct 27 (V7N) — Tension erupted in the Khagan area of Savar’s Ashulia on Sunday night after students from City University allegedly attacked a group of Daffodil International University students at their rented house known as “Bachelor Paradise.”

Eyewitnesses said the clash originated in the evening over a minor incident when a City University student reportedly spat near a motorcycle, and the spit accidentally fell on a Daffodil student standing nearby. The argument that followed quickly escalated into a violent confrontation.

Around 9 p.m., nearly 40 to 50 City University students armed with local weapons and bricks stormed the Bachelor Paradise residence, vandalizing property and injuring several occupants. Video footage of the incident soon spread across social media, prompting more than a thousand Daffodil students to gather at the scene in protest.

Witnesses said the agitated students tried to march toward the City University campus, but they were restrained by police and members of Daffodil’s proctorial team, who urged them to remain calm. The attackers fled the area before law enforcement arrived.

Two police teams from Savar Police Station were deployed to control the situation, while university officials remained on-site to prevent further escalation. Daffodil’s Proctor later contacted City University’s Proctor, urging a fair investigation and promising to share evidence of the attack.

However, tension persisted late into the night. Around 4:30 a.m., City University football coach Kamruzzaman Kajol reported that, despite administrative efforts, sporadic chases and counter-chases between students of both universities were still ongoing, and a vehicle had been set on fire.

Several former students of both institutions expressed concern that the conflict could spiral out of control. Former law student Hossain Hasnat said, “The administration must take a stronger stance, and faculty members from both universities should intervene immediately to prevent the situation from spreading beyond the campuses.”

Meanwhile, fire broke out near the City University campus around 3:30 a.m., according to video footage captured by a Jahangirnagar University resident student. Rakibul Hasan, a duty officer at the Fire Service control room, confirmed that firefighters quickly responded and extinguished the blaze, which had engulfed a vehicle parked in front of the university.

Police and university authorities are currently investigating the incident, which has left both campuses tense and the surrounding community on edge.
