UKHIA, COX’S BAZAR, March 6, (V7N) - Police recovered the body of Kaushik Barua Badhon (13) from Rezukhal canal in Ukhia on Friday morning, about 12 hours after he went missing.

The deceased was the son of local resident Badhan Barua. According to family sources, Badhon went missing around 6 pm Thursday. His father filed a general diary at Ukhia Police Station, and information was circulated on social media.

Later that night, a friend revealed they had been eating betel leaves near the canal when Badhon fell in. Locals gathered to search, while monks from a nearby Buddhist monastery performed prayers and rituals.

By morning, parts of the boy’s body were seen floating in the canal. Police were informed and recovered the body.

A local teacher suggested the boy may have died accidentally after falling into the canal, though superstitions are spreading in the area. Police stressed the need for investigation to clarify the cause.

Badhon’s parents, Patan Barua and Shikha Barua, are devastated. His mother said tearfully: “I want nothing but my Badhon. Bring me my Badhon.”

Ukhia Police Station OC Nur Ahmed confirmed that police are investigating and legal action will follow.
