Khulna, Oct 03 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Coast Guard has rescued four fishermen who were held hostage by bandits in the Sundarbans, seizing weapons and ammunition during the operation.
The rescue took place early Friday morning, according to a press briefing by the Coast Guard at 12:30 pm. The rescued fishermen are:

The fishermen reported that members of the Jahangir force had held them captive for 10 days, torturing them to extort ransom.
Lieutenant Iqra Mohammad Nasif of the Coast Guard said the operation was based on secret intelligence. “We fired two rounds of blank shots to call on the bandits to surrender. They fled into the forest, leaving behind the hostages and their boat,” he said.
During the operation, authorities seized 1 single-barrel gun, 2 air guns, and 3 rounds of live ammunition. The rescued fishermen were safely brought to shore.
The Coast Guard has vowed to continue operations to combat criminal activities in the Sundarbans, ensuring the safety of fishermen and local communities.
