Rajshahi, Aug 26 (V7N) – An illegal structure built over a drainage slab at Razzak’s Mor in the Chotobongram area of Rajshahi city is causing severe inconvenience and posing serious safety risks to local residents and commuters. The unauthorized construction is obstructing traffic flow on a key highway road, increasing the likelihood of accidents.

Locals report that the main entry route from Padma Residential Area to Chotobongram, known as Razzak’s Mor, has a drainage channel where this illegal structure was erected. The adjacent road has become largely hidden from view due to this obstruction, making it difficult for vehicles approaching from opposite directions to see each other, resulting in frequent minor collisions.

Residents warn that since this is a highway frequently used by heavy vehicles, the risk of a major accident is imminent. An investigation confirmed that the structure lacks any legal approval. According to locals, the construction was carried out during a previous government’s tenure, reportedly using political influence. The site allegedly functioned as a political office and a base for extortion activities.

Affected pedestrians and transport drivers expressed grave concerns about their safety, urging the authorities to take immediate action to remove the illegal structure. They warned that failure to do so might compel the community to organize protests.

Civic activists and concerned citizens emphasize the urgent need for municipal authorities to demolish the structure to prevent accidents and protect public safety. Without prompt intervention, a serious fatal incident could occur at any time.
