PABNA, July 27 (V7N) – Residents of Pabna have staged a protest against SM Adnan Uddin, the Deputy Office Secretary of the district’s Jatiotabadi secha sebok Dal and a journalist, accusing him of extortion, fraud, and unethical journalism. The protesters submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, demanding immediate action.
Led by Sirajum Munira, spokesperson of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, the protesters marched from the municipal building to the district administration office, chanting slogans against Adnan Uddin. They called for an independent investigation and urged authorities to dissolve alleged networks of extortion and defamatory journalism.
The demonstrators claimed that Adnan Uddin, under his title and via his newspaper "Dainik Pabnar Chetana," has allegedly been spreading false and politically motivated news that tarnishes reputations and instills fear among citizens. They demanded legal proceedings, protective measures for victims, and official monitoring of the newspaper.
In response, Adnan Uddin dismissed the charges as baseless, stating that he never engaged in extortion or misconduct. He denied all allegations and accused protesters of conspiracy, saying their actions were politically motivated and intended to discredit him.
