Cox’s Bazar, July 21 (V7N) — In a major anti-drug operation, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-15) arrested four suspected drug traffickers and seized 150,000 yaba tablets from a wooden boat at Tulatoli Ghat in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar. The raid was conducted on Sunday afternoon following a tip-off.
The detainees have been identified as:
Abdus Salam (33), son of Abdul Hakim, Abdullah (35), son of the late Farid Alam, Nazrul Islam alias Kalu (34), son of the late Ahmad Hossain, and Md. Shamsul Alam (52), son of the late Oli Ahmad.
All four are residents of Tulatoli village in the Teknaf Sadar Union. They were later handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal action.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of Assistant Superintendent of Police A.M. Faruk, also the Assistant Director (Law and Media) of RAB-15, who confirmed the arrest and seizure in an official press release.
According to RAB, the raid targeted a shipment of yaba pills that was being prepared for smuggling. Acting on intelligence, the team intercepted a wooden engine-driven boat owned by a local man named Sultan Ahmad. During the search, RAB recovered 150,000 yaba tablets, one smartphone, and one basic feature phone.
RAB also reported that three accomplices managed to flee the scene during the raid. Legal proceedings have been initiated against all individuals involved, and further investigations are underway to trace the network behind the drug consignment.
This operation marks one of the largest recent drug seizures in the Teknaf region, which remains a known hotspot for yaba trafficking from across the Myanmar border. Law enforcement agencies continue to intensify surveillance and crackdown efforts along the coastal and border areas to combat narcotics smuggling.
