Rajshahi, July 8 (V7N) — A special unit of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-5) conducted a late-night operation in the Tikapara area of Rajshahi city and recovered a foreign pistol, a magazine, and live ammunition that had been hidden beneath a pile of sand.

According to RAB sources, based on confidential information, it was revealed that during the student movement, a police firearm from Boalia Police Station had been looted. Later, this weapon was concealed under a sand heap in Tikapara. Acting on this tip, RAB’s investigative team launched a raid around 12:30 AM on Sunday.

During the operation, with neutral witnesses present, the team dug approximately two feet beneath the sand pile and successfully retrieved a 7.62 mm caliber foreign pistol, a magazine, and a fresh bullet.

When contacted, the Officer-in-Charge of Boalia Police Station confirmed that the recovered pistol was a standard-issue police firearm. However, they could not determine the exact police station it belonged to, as the serial number engraved on the pistol’s butt was deliberately erased.

After the operation, the recovered firearm and ammunition were handed over to Boalia Police Station and officially recorded in the station’s General Diary.

RAB officials reiterated their commitment to conducting ongoing operations against drugs, terrorism, illegal arms, extortion, and all forms of criminal activities since their establishment and assured that these efforts would continue in the future.

This operation highlights RAB’s vigilance and dedication toward maintaining law and order by retrieving illegally hidden police weapons, which if fallen into the wrong hands could pose significant risks to public safety.
