Khagrachhari, July 1 (V7N)  —  In an effort to foster inclusive development in the Khagrachhari Hill District, the local administration held a stakeholder dialogue with journalists on Tuesday. The meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner A B M Iftekharul Islam Khandaker, took place at the Officers’ Club Conference Hall in Khagrachhari town.

The exchange was aimed at understanding the challenges faced by the district and exploring collaborative strategies for progress. During the open-floor discussion, journalists raised a wide range of issues including infrastructural deficits, access to public services, administrative bottlenecks, and the socio-economic disparities that continue to hold the region back.

Journalists emphasized the need for transparent governance, improved connectivity in remote areas, greater investment in education and healthcare, and culturally sensitive development planning that respects the unique demographic of the hill district.

Several prominent media professionals attended the session, including Shahriar Yunus, President of the Khagrachhari Journalists' Union; Ishteaque Ahmed Nipu, General Secretary; Tarun Kumar Bhattacharya, President of Khagrachhari Press Club; and H. M. Prafulla, General Secretary. Journalists from all nine upazilas (sub-districts) of the district were present and actively engaged in the dialogue.

The Deputy Commissioner welcomed the feedback, affirming that the district administration is committed to participatory governance and values the role of the media in shaping an inclusive development agenda.

He noted that “constructive criticism and grassroots insights from journalists are crucial in helping the administration identify blind spots and take targeted action to improve the lives of Khagrachhari’s residents.”

The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to deepen collaboration between the local administration and media stakeholders, with a focus on accountability, transparency, and sustainable development.
