Dhaka, July 2 (V7N) — Bangladesh reported 13 new COVID-19 infections in the 24 hours leading up to 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, according to a daily bulletin issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). This brings the country’s total confirmed cases to 2,052,093 since the pandemic began.
 
No new deaths were reported during this period, keeping the country’s total COVID-19 death toll at 29,521. The positivity rate over the past 24 hours stood at 4.22%, based on 308 samples tested.
 
In 2024 alone, 8,044 samples have been tested nationwide, of which 584 individuals were found positive. A total of 15,731,730 tests have been conducted in Bangladesh since the first cases were confirmed in March 2020.
 
This year, 22 people have died from COVID-19 complications so far. The overall recovery rate now stands at 98.41%, while the cumulative test positivity rate remains at 13.04%, according to DGHS data.
 
Chattogram Reports Rise in Infections
In a separate update from Chattogram, the District Civil Surgeon’s Office reported 15 new cases in the 24 hours preceding noon on Monday. However, these figures were not included in the DGHS’s central bulletin.
 
According to Chattogram health officials, the district has recorded 160 new cases since the beginning of June, with 7 confirmed deaths. The most recent fatality involved a woman who died last Friday while receiving treatment at Chattogram General Hospital.
 
Health authorities are urging the public to remain cautious, especially as infection rates show a slight uptick in various regions. Public health experts continue to recommend testing, vaccination, and precautionary measures, particularly for the elderly and immunocompromised individuals.
