Dhaka, May 04 (V7N) — The High Court has temporarily suspended bench officer Zakir Hossain over allegations of forging a bail order for Shahedul Islam, the main accused in a case involving the seizure of 20,000 garments allegedly produced for the armed group Kuki-Chin National Front.

The Supreme Court administration confirmed the matter on Monday, stating that along with the suspension, Zakir Hossain has been served a show-cause notice seeking an explanation for his actions.

According to sources, the issue came to light after the Attorney General raised concerns before the Chief Justice last week. Following this, the Chief Justice ordered a full investigation into the incident within 48 hours.

The incident dates back about seven months, when Shahedul Islam, owner of Ringvo Apparels in Chattogram, filed a bail petition in the High Court. The petition was heard on September 16, 2025, by a bench comprising Justice Mostafa Zaman Islam and Justice Abdullah Yusuf Sumon.

During the hearing, the court was allegedly misled with documents and statements from a different case that contained no reference to the Kuki-Chin group. Based on that information, the court granted bail and signed the order.

However, investigators later found that the original bail document had been tampered with. Critical details on the first page—including the case information, police station name, and legal sections—were altered. The forged version inserted references to the case involving the seized garments linked to the Kuki-Chin group.

Using this falsified order, prison authorities subsequently released the accused, raising serious concerns about procedural integrity within the judicial system.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, and further legal action may follow based on the findings.
