Chandpur, Mar 14 (V7N) — The National Consumer Rights Protection Department fined two restaurants a total of Tk 30,000 during a drive in the Kalibari area of Chandpur town on Saturday afternoon for storing and selling expired food products.

The establishments, Kacchi Dine and Kacchi Dining, were penalized after officials found expired mawa, almond syrup, and meat during inspections. Authorities alleged that the items were being stored for sale as iftar food.

According to Abdullah Al Imran, Assistant Director of the Chandpur Consumer Rights Protection Department, Kacchi Dine was fined Tk 20,000 and Kacchi Dining Tk 10,000 under the Consumer Rights Protection Act.

He added that the authorities also warned the restaurant owners during the drive and instructed them not to repeat such irregularities in the future.
