Ukhiya, June 30 (V7N) – On Monday afternoon (30 June), a mobile court in Palongkhali, Ukhiya upazila, Cox's Bazar, imposed fines totaling Tk 2.55 lakh across four cases as part of enforcement operations addressing illegal medical practices and pharmaceutical violations.
 
According to the Ukhiya Upazila Administration, the court penalized Tajman Hospital in Palongkhali with a fine of Tk 1 lakh under the Consumer Rights Protection Act. The hospital was found to be employing a fake doctor and providing substandard healthcare services.
 
In the same operation, the court also raided three pharmacies where expired medicines were being sold, and pharmaceutical samples—prohibited for sale—were found on display. These actions resulted in an additional Tk 1.55 lakh in fines under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
 
The mobile court operation was led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) Zareen Tasnim Tasin, who stated, "A total of Tk 2.55 lakh in fines have been collected from four cases. Such drives will continue to protect consumer rights and public health."
 
The operation was conducted in collaboration with Kazi Mohammad Farhad, Drug Superintendent of Cox’s Bazar, and Ukhiya Upazila Sanitary Inspector Nurul Alam.
 
Officials confirmed that further inspections are planned in the coming weeks to ensure compliance across the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.
