Pabna, June 30 (V7N) – Pabna Science and Technology University (PSTU) has awarded scholarships to a group of meritorious yet financially disadvantaged students from its 21 departments. A total of 215 students received scholarships in recognition of their academic excellence and potential.
The scholarship distribution ceremony was held on Monday, June 30, at the university’s Convention Hall. The event was graced by the presence of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. S. M. Abdul Awal, who served as the chief guest.
Professor Dr. Nazrul Islam, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, and Professor Dr. Md. Shamim Ahsan, Treasurer, attended the event as special guests.
During the ceremony, ten approved research innovation projects were showcased, and the students involved in these projects, along with five students recognized for individual innovations, were honored with awards. The projects were displayed throughout the event. The Student Advisory Office organized the entire function.
Under the chairmanship of Dr. Md. Rashedul Haque, Director of the Student Advisory Office, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of the scholarships in fostering academic and research excellence. He said, “Following the July Movement, we are committed to realizing the vision of a production-oriented and youth-driven Bangladesh by providing scholarships to deserving and talented students. We strive to elevate our scholars to national prominence. These scholarships will encourage students to excel academically and increase their participation in research. They will provide substantial support for higher education.”
Addressing the students, he further added, “In the future, competitive projects will be approved through which students will receive stipends. Various research cells have been established, and once fully operational, they will expand education and research opportunities, allowing more students to receive scholarships.”
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Nazrul Islam expressed his pride in awarding scholarships to so many students, acknowledging that “although the monetary value of the scholarships may not be large, their significance as inspiration for the future is immense. It is your responsibility to uphold this achievement. Remember, one day you will succeed. When you succeed, we as educators will also succeed.”
Professor Dr. Md. Shamim Ahsan, Treasurer, praised the scholarships as recognition of hard work and talent, stating, “These awards serve as motivation and inspiration for the future. I believe these scholarships will foster greater responsibility in education and research.”
Other dignitaries who spoke at the event included Proctor Professor Dr. Kamruzzaman Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Science Professor Dr. Md. Fazlul Haque, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Dr. Mir Khaled Iqbal Chowdhury, and Dean of the Faculty of Biological and Earth Sciences Dr. Mohammad Nazmul Islam. Student representatives Sujit Kumar Roy and Sagar Mia also addressed the audience.
Scholarship recipients were formally presented with their award checks during the ceremony.
The ten approved research innovation projects honored were led by students Abu Mohammad Nur, Ratan Ahmed, Arif Hossain, Hafizul Islam, Fatema Khatun, Tanvir Islam Chowdhury, Sagar Mia, Shahadat Hossain Bhuiyan, Iftikhar Shakirul, Naiesa Yasmin Amy, Afrina Shahrin Shova, Shad Shahriar, and Tamanna Yasmin.
