New York, Sep 25 (V7N)- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah have discussed further strengthening the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and Kuwait, with emphasis on trade, investment, manpower and economic cooperation.
The bilateral meeting was held on Friday (September 25) at the Permanent Mission of Kuwait in New York, where Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is attending the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed ways to deepen and diversify the historic relations between the two countries and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Particular emphasis was placed on increasing bilateral trade and investment, expanding employment opportunities for Bangladeshi workers in Kuwait and strengthening broader economic cooperation.
Tarique Rahman recalled the contributions of former President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia to the development of Bangladesh-Kuwait relations.
He said the foundation of mutual respect, goodwill and cooperation established between the two countries over the years has continued to expand.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of further deepening and diversifying the bilateral relationship for the mutual benefit of the peoples of Bangladesh and Kuwait.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of maintaining high-level communication between the political leadership of the two countries.
The two leaders exchanged views on expanding cooperation in the economy, trade, investment, manpower and other sectors with potential for greater bilateral engagement.
