Dhaka, May 09 (V7N) — Tarique Rahman has said that the BNP government has begun a “new war” aimed at implementing the promises made to the people during the election campaign.
He made the remarks while addressing a views-exchange meeting with grassroots leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its affiliated organizations at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh auditorium on Saturday (May 9) morning.
The Prime Minister called on party leaders and activists to cooperate with the government in implementing its election manifesto.
“We told the people that we would ensure good governance,” Tarique Rahman said. “We want to build a country where people receive proper education and where both men and women can move safely on the roads. In politics, there will be discussions and debates, but we will not allow oppression against people. Our war now is to fulfill the commitments we made to the people.”
Referring to the challenges surrounding the 13th parliamentary election, he said BNP leaders and activists remained active in the field throughout the election process.
“You all witnessed the public support for our party and our manifesto,” he said. “Before the election, it was the BNP’s manifesto. After the election, it became the manifesto of the people of Bangladesh.”
Tarique Rahman further claimed that 52 percent of the country’s people supported the party’s manifesto and stressed that the government would not succeed without the continued cooperation of BNP leaders and activists.
