Dhaka, Apr 08 (V7N) – Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 14 individuals linked to a broker gang during a mobile court operation at the Agargaon Passport Office in the capital on Wednesday morning.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of RAB-2 as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal brokerage activities surrounding passport services.
According to officials, six of the detainees were sentenced to five days’ imprisonment through the mobile court. Three others were released after initial questioning, while investigations continue regarding the remaining suspects.
The RAB Executive Magistrate stated that such operations are necessary as many service seekers fall victim to broker syndicates and face harassment while obtaining passports.
Officials at the passport office expressed hope that the ongoing anti-broker operation will significantly reduce customer harassment. They urged citizens to avoid brokers, complete application forms themselves, and deposit fees under official supervision if needed.
