DHAKA, March 15, 2026 (V7N) – Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today extended a special Eid gift of Tk 5,000 to each cleaner working in the country’s 12 city corporations, recognizing their vital role in keeping urban areas clean and livable.  

At a ceremony in the Parliament Secretariat, the Prime Minister handed over cheques to mayors and administrators of different city corporations. Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, State Minister Mir Shahe Alam, and Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain were among those present.  

According to the Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman, the financial assistance was given as a token of respect and solidarity with sanitation workers ahead of Eid al-Fitr. He noted that the initiative reflects the government’s recognition of their tireless service.  

Ruman expressed hope that the Prime Minister’s gesture would add to the joy of Eid for the families of sanitation workers. He also said the government will continue to take humanitarian and welfare initiatives for the wellbeing of all urban service workers.
