Bagerhat, Jan 10 (V7N) — A tragic train accident claimed the life of a woman in Mongla upazila of Bagerhat district on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred at around 12:30 pm in the Digraj Bidyar Bahan area under Mongla upazila.

The deceased was identified as Nayemi Biswas, 25, daughter of Dinesh Biswas of Shelabunia village in Mongla upazila.

According to local sources and eyewitnesses, the Benapole–Mongla commuter passenger train was passing through the Digraj Bidyar Bahan railway section when the woman came under the train. She died on the spot due to severe injuries.

Upon receiving the information, officials from the railway authorities and local administration rushed to the scene and recovered the body.

Officials concerned initially suspect the incident to be a case of suicide, although the exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed. An investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The incident has cast a pall of grief over the local area, while authorities continue their inquiry to establish the facts.
