SYLHET, Jan 18 (V7N) — A tragic head-on collision between two passenger buses occurred at around 6:30 am on Saturday in Konapara area of Dayamir Union under Osmani Nagar Upazila on the Sylhet-Dhaka highway.

The accident involved Shyamoli Transport and Ena Transport buses. Both vehicles collided directly, resulting in the deaths of the supervisor and a helper of Shyamoli Transport at the scene.

The deceased have been identified as Mujibur Rahman (55) from Doshai Howlader village in Naria Upazila, Shariatpur District, and Bakul Ravidash (26) from Karua area, Osmani Nagar, Sylhet.

Sherpur Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Habibur Rahman stated that upon receiving news of the accident, police rushed to the site, rescued the injured, and took necessary measures to manage the situation.

At least five passengers sustained serious injuries and were immediately admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the collision and urged drivers to exercise caution on the highway.

Authorities emphasized the need for stricter traffic monitoring and safety enforcement to prevent similar accidents in the future.
