Barguna, Nov 01 (V7N) – A tragic accident claimed the life of a 35-year-old bricklayer, Rafique Gazi, in Borotengra village of Patharghata Sadar Union on Saturday around noon. The incident occurred at his own under-construction home while he was working on building it.
According to family sources, Rafik Gazi, the youngest son of Ishak Gazi, was a skilled and diligent bricklayer. On the day of the accident, he was operating an electric machine used for cutting wood when, due to a momentary lapse in caution, the machine’s wire came into contact with him. The resulting electric shock was fatal.
Relatives immediately rushed him to the Patharghata Upazila Health Complex, where the attending physician, Dr. Rakhal Biswas, declared him dead.
Rafique Gazi is survived by his wife and two young children, aged seven and one. Local residents described him as hardworking and responsible, noting that despite modest means, he was building his dream home for his family through persistent effort.
The sudden death of Rafique Gazi has cast a shadow of grief over the village. Neighbors and relatives expressed sorrow, saying, “A good man has passed away before fulfilling his dream of completing his own house.”
Patharghata Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, (OC) Mehedi Hasan, stated that authorities were dispatched immediately after receiving the report. The body will be handed over to the family following legal procedures, and appropriate legal actions will be taken based on the family’s complaint.
