Munshiganj, Aug 22 (V7N) – Three people were killed and another injured early Thursday morning when a speeding private car overturned on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway near Shologhar Passenger Shelter area in Srinagar upazila.
A deadly road accident occurred around 6:00 a.m. on August 21 when a private vehicle traveling at high speed lost control and overturned on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway. The crash took place in the Shologhar area under Srinagar upazila of Munshiganj district.
Local police and rescue officials confirmed that three individuals died on the spot due to the impact of the crash. One additional passenger sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Identities of the victims have not yet been released publicly, pending notification of their families.
According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle was moving at excessive speed when it suddenly veered off the road and flipped multiple times before coming to a halt. Local residents and highway police responded quickly to the scene and assisted in retrieving the bodies and transporting the injured.
Highway authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause of the crash. Preliminary assessments suggest reckless driving and possible loss of control due to high speed may have contributed to the fatal accident.
The Dhaka-Mawa Expressway has seen a rise in traffic-related incidents in recent years, particularly involving high-speed private vehicles. Road safety experts continue to urge stricter enforcement of speed regulations and increased driver awareness.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent to Munshiganj General Hospital for post-mortem examinations. Police are coordinating with the families and further legal procedures are underway.
