Dhaka, Oct 08 (V7N)- BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has expressed hope that the newly formed committee of the Road Transport Workers Federation will work to curb illegal activities and extortion in the transport sector.
He made the remarks while speaking to reporters after laying wreaths at the tombs of late President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia on Thursday morning. Rizvi was accompanied by members of the newly formed committee led by BNP leader Nazim Uddin.
Rizvi said he hoped the new committee would help end what he described as “mafia-like activities” surrounding the transport sector.
He said the sector would be revamped through new ideas, while longstanding stagnation would be addressed and the sector brought under a more organized framework. He also expressed hope that a new standard would be established in passenger services.
The BNP leader further said that the political disorder of the past 17 years could end if politicians took responsibility for preventing political chaos.
